Your Role: Data Controller
When you upload or transfer files using UpLinko, 'you are the Data Controller'. This means you decide the purpose and legal basis for sending personal data, including any information that can identify an individual (names, contact details, images, documents, etc.).
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to share that data, including obtaining consent where required.
UpLinko’s Role: Data Processor
UpLinko processes your file transfers 'solely on your instruction'. We do not access, analyse, or share the data you send. Our role is limited to securely storing and transmitting files on your behalf.
As a Data Processor, we act only as a technical facilitator of your transfer request.
Data Retention: 7-Day Automatic Deletion
To protect your privacy and the rights of the people whose data you are transferring, all temporary file transfers processed by UpLinko are 'automatically deleted after 7 days'.
This includes both:
- Uploaded files
- Generated download links
No personal data from file transfers is retained beyond this period unless you are a subscribed user using permanent storage within your dashboard.
Your Responsibility & Compliance
By using UpLinko, you confirm that:
- You have a lawful basis for processing and transferring personal data.
- You understand that data belongs to the individual it identifies.
- You will comply with all relevant data protection regulations.
UpLinko provides secure processing, but the responsibility for the data itself remains with you.
